WHEREAS, the Western Pennsylvania Golden Gloves is hosting the Pennsylvania Golden Gloves Hall of Fame Dinner & Show on Monday, April 21, 2008, and will honor Dan Connlley, John Kostas, Chuck Gibbons and Peter Papaleo for their outstanding achievements in the sport of boxing; and
WHEREAS, Dan Connlley's career highlights include being a four time Golden Glove Champion, a Bronze Medalist in the Olympic Trials and a Silver Medalist in the Amyors Cup Philippines; and
WHEREAS, John Kostas is being honored for his involvement in boxing for 65 years, which includes training the 1945 Golden Glove Champions and United States Marine Team in Guam in 1942; and
WHEREAS, Chuck Gibbons is being honored for 60 years of service to the sport of amateur boxing, which included competing in the Golden Gloves and AAU and he was the founder of the Ellwood City Boxing Club; and
WHEREAS, Peter Papaleo is being honored for his years of service as Coach and Trainer at Joe Hand Gym in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, these four men are being recognized by the Pennsylvania Golden Gloves, not only for their achievements, but for their commitment and amazing contributions they have made to their sport.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby commends them for their dedication, and for all the blood, sweat and tears they poured into the sport of boxing and congratulates them for their honor into the Hall of Fame.
