WHEREAS, the Brashear Association has supported and housed many organizations in Arlington and on the South Side since 1917; and
WHEREAS, the Brashear Association serves as a living memorial to John Alfred Brashear, a self-taught scientist and astronomer, who will long be remembered for his philanthropic efforts; and
WHEREAS, the Brashear Association has long been the lifeline for many small non-profit organizations and has never asked for anything in return; and
WHEREAS, Brashear is a safe haven to young and old alike, providing programs such as day camp; sewing, dancing, cooking and craft lessons; adult daycare; job development; meals on wheels; a food pantry and many more;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and thank The Brashear Association for all it does for the residents of Arlington and the City of Pittsburgh.
