WHEREAS, Leroy "Coach" Dillard is a wellness attendant and personal trainer at the Thelma Lovette YMCA located in the Hill District, where he has been employed since it was opened in April of 2012, having worked with the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh off and on since the 1970s; and,
WHEREAS, "Coach" Dillard holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Health and Physical Education from Edwards College, a Masters Degree in Health and Physical Education from the University of Pittsburgh, and he is a certified personal trainer through NETA (National Exercise Trainers Association); and,
WHEREAS, having built a rich history with the Hill District community by raising awareness of health and wellness issues, the members and staff of the Thelma Lovette YMCA hold "Coach" Dillard in the highest regard not only for his vast knowledge in the field, but also because he is a genuine person concerned about the people in the community he serves; and,
WHEREAS, clients, fellow coworkers and Hill District residents all agree that "Coach" Dillard is genuinely concerned about the person as a whole, in spirit, mind and body, as he uses physical activity to lift up a person's spirits through tough times; and,
WHEREAS, "Coach" Dillard is gifted with an intangible talent to motivate individuals to be the best possible person they can be, and is a wonderful asset to the Thelma Lovette YMCA and the broader Hill District Community;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare September 10, 2013 to be "Coach Dillard Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
