Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize John Weinstein and thank him for his service to Allegheny County and the City of Pittsburgh; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Saturday, January 13, 2024 to be "John K. Weinstein Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, John K. Weinstein is a lifelong resident of Allegheny County who has served with distinction as the longest serving Treasurer in the history of the County; and

WHEREAS, shadowing his father Mel Weinstein through the political train, he has served as the elected Allegheny County Treasurer since 1999 and has been re-elected countywide to six (6) consecutive terms. Ending his final term by retiring effective January 1, 2024; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Weinstein also serves as the President of the Retirement Board of Allegheny County and oversees the pension investment portfolio of nearly $1 Billion; and,

WHEREAS, as Treasurer, he is responsible for the collection, investment, and disbursement of over 3 billion dollars of county funds. His Certified Investment Policy has been awarded the Investment Policy Certificate of Excellence seven times by the Association of Public Treasurers of the United States and Canada; and,

WHEREAS, in addition, Mr. Weinstein has become a leader in green initiatives by implementing eBILL and ePAY for County Real Estate Property Taxes. He also established ePAY for Alcohol and Rental Vehicle Taxes and for Dog Licenses in Allegheny County; and,

WHEREAS, he is a member of the Association of Public Treasurers of the United States and Canada, Financial Executives International, Government Finance Officers Association, Northeastern Regional Tax Collectors & Treasurers Association, Pennsylvania County Treasurers Association and the Pennsylvania State Tax Collectors Association, and a former Board Member of ALCOSAN; and,

WHEREAS, he is also active with Animal Friends, Boys & Girls Club of Western Pennsylvania, Phipps Conservatory, Roberto Clemente Foundation and the University of Pittsburgh Hillman Cancer Institute; and,
