WHEREAS, Operation Pittsburgh Pride was founded in 2006 by Ron and Susan Wardezak; and
WHEREAS, the Wardezaks started Operation Pittsburgh Pride to honor their son Jordan Wardezak and his unit, the 1st Calvary Brigade, 1-12 Bravo Company; and
WHEREAS, Operation Pittsburgh Pride was established to show our American soldiers that Pittsburgh residents appreciate and take pride in their dedication and service to our country; and
WHEREAS, Operation Pittsburgh Pride sends packages to American soldiers that contain many everyday items to improve their quality of life while overseas; and
WHEREAS, Operation Pittsburgh Pride has already shipped packages for Veterans Day and is planning a second shipment for the winter holiday season; and
WHEREAS, Operation Pittsburgh Pride has received generous support from Allstate Insurance, the law firm Cohen and Grigsby, lawyer Michael Syme, Diane Otto of Shaler, Mt. Lebanon High School and Chartiers Valley Elementary School and welcomes continued support from the Pittsburgh community.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby commends and thanks Ron and Susan Wardezak of Operation Pittsburgh Pride for their dedication to improving the quality of life for American Soldiers.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares December 5, 2006, "Operation Pittsburgh Pride Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
