WHEREAS, Antoinette "Toni" Stasiak has been a City of Pittsburgh resident for eight decades, where she currently resides in Lawrenceville; and
WHEREAS, Toni Stasiak graduated from historic Schenley High School in 1942, where she began honing her sense of civic commitment and neighborly virtue; and
WHEREAS, Antoinette was sworn in as a member of the City of Pittsburgh's first class of crossing guards and went on to a career with what was then known as the Division of Highways, Bridges, and Sewers, serving as an employee of the City of Pittsburgh for thirty-three years, retiring after in 1982 many of which while also raising a family as a committed and dedicated mother; and
WHEREAS, Toni has lived a life as a pioneering woman, having been the first woman to sit for, and pass, the Bridge Inspectors Examination, in addition to managing a championship team in the Lawrenceville Girls Softball League in the 1960's; and
WHEREAS, Antoinette's sense of civic responsibility can been seen in her work as a perennial poll worker for the Democratic Party, with Toni having lived under the mayoral administrations of mayors McNair, Scully, David Lawrence, Thomas Gallagher, Joe Barr, Pete Flaherty, Richard Caliguri, Sophie Masloff, Tom Murphy, Bob O'Connor, Luke Ravenstahl, and, now, Bill Peduto; and
WHEREAS, Toni is an avid sports fan who often took her children to Forbes Field to see the Pirates play, passing her love of the Pirates, Steelers, and Penguins down to her children; and
WHEREAS, having raised three children as a working single mother, Toni taught her children by example, demonstrating a need for her to work hard, have pride for - and love - their family, home, friends, neighbors, and the City of Pittsburgh; and
