Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby appreciate Mrs. Sarah Campbell for her commitment to service to the Homewood- Brushton community; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Sunday, May 19, 2013, to be “Mrs. Sarah B. Campbell Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "the Mayor of Homewood," Mrs. Sarah B. Campbell has been an active leader in the Homewood-Brushton community for over 50 years.  Mrs. Campbell graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Master's Degree in Public Administration.  She was employed and retired from the Western Region Department of Public Welfare, as a Contract Specialist responsible for over 23 counties; and,                    
 
WHEREAS, Mrs. Campbell was a founding member of the Homewood-Brushton Community Improvement Association, an organization that organized over 100 block clubs and was instrumental in changing the quality of life for Homewood residents.  Also she was influential in the opening of the first Homewood-Brushton Employment Center to eradicate unemployment within the community; and,
 
WHEREAS, Mrs. Campbell's past accomplishments include but are not limited to:  CTAC board member, Emeritus, Action Housing Planning Committee, National Council of Negro Women, Volunteer for the American Legion Auxiliary, and Veteran's Safety Committee.  Mrs. Campbell has continued to serve as President of the Homewood-Brushton Community Coalition Organizations Public Safety Committee; and,    
 
WHEREAS, After a lifetime of leadership in the Pittsburgh community, Mrs. Campbell will be moving to Southeastern PA to be closer to her family.  On Sunday, May 19, 2013 there will be many Pittsburgh and Homewood-Brushton residents gathering at the First Unitarian Church to honor her life's work in Pittsburgh; and,
