WHEREAS, on June 19, 2009, Journey's of Life, owned and operated by Jean Haller will celebrate its 20th anniversary; and
WHEREAS, the store was opened in May of 1989, on the second floor of the corner of Walnut Street and South Aiken Avenue in Shadyside, devoted to helping people face tremendous challenges in their lives; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Haller made it a goal to provide an outlet to those struggling with their own problems; and
WHEREAS, the store, currently located on Bellefonte Street in Shadyside, has grown to include tools and gifts for those seeking alternative answers to life's every day problems and Ms. Haller continues to provide her customers with a shopping experience that is unrivaled in Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS, Ms Haller works with a variety of charitable endeavors, educators and counselors and her community, including the Shadyside Chamber of Commerce and Earth Day events.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT, the Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognizes Ms. Jean Haller and Journeys of Life for their positive influence and resources provided to the City of Pittsburgh; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares June 19, 2009, "Journeys of Life Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
