Whereas, Pittsburgh Brashear Auto Body and Auto Tech Programs, offered by the Career & Technical Education (CTE) program of Pittsburgh Public Schools, are a model of CTE
programming in the region, and;
Whereas, Brashear High School's Auto Body and Auto Tech programs have won multiple medals in statewide and national competitions dating back to 2012, and;
Whereas, Auto Technology students competed for the first time in the 2014 Pedal Car Competition at the World of Wheels Auto Show where they won first place, and;
Whereas, with grant funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Education the Auto Body and Tech programs were able to purchase and learn to use professional automotive equipment, and;
Whereas, The Auto Body and Auto Tech Occupational Advisory Committees (OACs), comprised of men and women in the automotive industry advising the program instructor on skills and industry standards, have been instrumental in the developing the curriculum, purchasing of state of the art equipment, and assisting with development of safety practices in the shop area, and;
Whereas, during the 2012-13 school year, three students of the Pittsburgh Brashear Auto Body and Auto Tech Programs competed in regional SkillsUSA Competitions, earning a silver medal in the Refinishing competition, a bronze medal in the Collision Repair competition, and a gold medal in the Technical Math competition, and;
Whereas, one student went on to represent the Pittsburgh Public Schools at the state Technical Math competition, and;
Whereas, six graduates are currently attending Rosedale Technical Institute after training at Pittsburgh Brashear in Auto Body and touring the campus with the Auto Body program, and;
Whereas, in 2013-2014, Pittsburgh Brashear Auto Body and Auto Tech Programs had eleven students pass the National Occupational Competency Testing Institute (NOCTI) assessment, with nine seniors achieving advanced scores, five students earned the Occupational S...
