Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby welcome the Alliance for Climate Protection's Repower America and celebrates its new presence in Lawrenceville; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares Monday, August 3rd, 2009 to be “Repower America Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

Whereas, the Alliance for Climate Protection's Repower America campain launched in 2008 in response to a vanguard speech by Vice President Al Gore; and,
 
Whereas, Repower America's mission is to rejuvenate the country's energy infrastructure and to "repower" America with clean, efficient, and renewable electricity; and,
 
Whereas, in the wake of the Alliance for Climate Protection's National Mobilization Weekend, during which members and volunteers knocked on more than 12,000 doors nationwide to galvanize the public around the clean energy plan; and
 
Whereas, the campaign has recently expanded its reach to the City of Pittsburgh with the opening of a new office in Lawrenceville on July 28th, 2009; and,
 
Whereas, the City is excited by the addition of members and friends of the Alliance to the community, and calls on their innovation and energy to make Pittsburgh a center for the new energy economy;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby welcome the Alliance for Climate Protection's Repower America and celebrates its new presence in Lawrenceville; and,
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares Monday, August 3rd, 2009 to be "Repower America Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
