WHEREAS, each year, the Arlington Civic Council recognizes outstanding volunteers, who make a difference, in their community; and
WHEREAS, Norman Hochendoner is this year's honoree, for his loyal service to the Arlington Meals On Wheels program; and
WHEREAS, no task is too small, or too large, for Mr. Hochendoner, he is always willing to help anyone in anyway he can; and
WHEREAS, Norman Hochendoner graduated from St. Henry School and South Hills High School and is a lifelong resident of Arlington, where he still works to make his home and neighborhood a better place; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Hochendoner has lived a life of service and is retired from the United States Postal Service after thirty-five (35) years and served in the US Armed Forces for three (3) years; and
WHEREAS , in addition to his volunteer time, Norman Hochendoner now, also, enjoys biking, swimming, gardening and reading;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, does, hereby, recognize and commend Norman Hochendoner for his dedication and service to the Arlington Neighborhood of Pittsburgh, and particularly the Arlington Meals on Wheels.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does, hereby, proclaim Monday, June 01, 2009, to be Norman Hochendoner Day in the City of Pittsburgh.
