WHEREAS, the mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices by offering them venues for responsible fun and adventure; and
WHEREAS, each year, Cub Scout packs in the Greater Pittsburgh Council of the Boy Scouts of America sell Trail's End popcorn to fund worthwhile scouting activities; and
WHEREAS, at the completion of the 2003 Trail's End Popcorn Sale, 9 year old Ryan Cenk, a Cub Scout in Pack 85 of the Seneca District, learned that he was the second highest Cub Scout salesman in the Greater Pittsburgh Council, selling 31 cases worth $1,894.00; and
WHEREAS, second best is not nearly good enough for Ryan Cenk: Ryan's dream was to be the district's Top Salesman; and
WHEREAS, at the completion of the 2004 Trail's End Popcorn Sale, Ryan Cenk sold 1,032 cases of popcorn worth $25,006.00 ;and
WHEREAS, not only did 10 year old Ryan Cenk become the top popcorn salesman for the Greater Pittsburgh Council, he became the Top Salesman for Trail's End Popcorn in the nation, for this and any other year; and
WHEREAS, Ryan Cenk was so accomplished a salesman for his cause that he was asked to address the Pennsylvania Council to explain his technique; and
WHEREAS; Ryan Cenk's success is rightfully shared with his parents, Colleen and William Cenk, his uncle, Bob Cenk, his grandparents, Bill and Dottie Cenk, and family friend, Brian Azur, for it was through Ryan's enthusiasm that they too became involved in the "cause," all for the love of scouting and Ryan.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh salutes Ryan Cenk for his ability, his enthusiasm, and devotion to the Boy Scouts of America and for being the national Top Salesman of Trail's End popcorn for the Boy Scouts of America; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh declares May 3, 2005 "Ryan Cenk Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
