Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Jewish Family and Children's Services of Pittsburgh on its Annual Meeting and congratulates its award winners for their dedication and commitment; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, May 15, 2012, to be “JEWISH FAMILY AND CHILDREN'S SERVICES DAY” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Jewish Family and Children's Service of Pittsburgh delivers essential psychological, employment and social services to alleviate hardship and support people in times of need. Guided by Jewish traditions of social responsibility, JF&CS is committed to treating all persons with dignity and compassion, providing culturally relevant services, helping people help themselves and collaborating with others to broaden the reach; and,

WHEREAS, Jewish Family and Children's Service will be holding its 75th Annual Meeting on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, and will recognize and honor key people who have contributed to the success of the agency; and,

WHEREAS, the Dr. Howard A. Mermelstein Leadership Award will be given to Joel M. Rosenthal, CPA, CVA for his efforts to successfully navigate the agency in difficult economic times while staying true to its mission of aiding the most vulnerable in our community; and,

WHEREAS, JF&CS will honor Barbara Wollman, LCSW, RPT-S, with the Staff Recognition Award for her 30 years of service as a licensed clinical social worker and certified Play Therapist where her expertise and passion for her work has improved the lives of so many of the community's children to overcome emotional and behavioral challenges; and,

WHEREAS, JF&CS will make special recognition to their staunch supporters, called the Consecutive Giving Club, who have consistently made financial contributions for 20 or more consecutive years, setting the standard for other supporters and ensuring a stronger future for JF&CS.
