Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare October 28, 2016 to be "Officer Richard McClain Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, MPO Richard McClain has been A Pittsburgh Police officer for more than 27 years and still counting; and,

WHEREAS, Richard McClain was born on August 26, 1958 in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania to Thomas McClain and the Late Dorris McClain. He was the third child of four (Doris, Bruce, And Albert). Richard grew up in the Homewood-Brush ton neighborhood where he spent a majority of his childhood; and,

WHEREAS, he attended Westinghouse High school. At Westinghouse, he partook in the marching band, track and field and was the manager for the basketball team. Upon graduating high school in 1976, Richard continued his education at the Tuskegee Institute which currently serves as Tuskegee University. While in college, Officer McClain partook in the marching band known as the Marching Crimson's Pipers. Richard graduated from college in Tuskegee Institute in 1993 with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration; and,

WHEREAS, as of November 27, 1989, Richard started his career as a police officer, where his first station of duty was Pittsburgh Police Department's Zone 2 station in the Hill District. In 1994 officer McClain was promoted to the Operations of Narcotics Investigations (ONI) after serving two years as a Police officer. Pittsburgh's Zone 1 Police Department in the Northside soon became his new station where he spent his next 12 years of his career; and,

WHEREAS, during his North Side stint, Officer McClain became a notable figure in the community. He served as mentor at the Craig's House on Negley Avenue where he worked with children who were in need of his assistance. Also, Richard worked the Youth Football league for various neighborhoods such as Homewood, East end, Garfield, Hill District, Hazelwood, Northside, and Lincoln; and,

WHEREAS, Richard McClain was able to provide a safe environment for the Pittsburgh kids for over 20 years (1998-2014). Officer McClain returned to Zone 2 in 2010 where he still continues his regular duties as a Police...
