Title: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation, Phillips Elementary, Arlington Elementary, Bishop Leonard Catholic and Philip Murray Elementary schools, South Side Local Development Company, Comcast Pittsburgh, Lowe's and The History Channel for their many contributions to the historic preservation of our city. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that April 7, 2005 be hereby proclaimed "Save Our History Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, The History Channel, Comcast Pittsburgh and Lowe's are committed to inspiring, motivating and educating local communities on the importance of preserving the past; and
 
WHERAS, the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation is dedicated to the preservation of the historic structures and neighborhoods of Pittsburgh and to the education of the area's residents about their unique heritage; and
 
WHEREAS, The Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation, Phillips Elementary, Arlington Elementary, Bishop Leonard Catholic and Phillip Murray Elementary schools and the South Side Local Development Company will receive a Save Our History Grant from the History Channel; and
 
WHEREAS, The Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation along with more than 500 students from the Phillips Elementary, Arlington Elementary, Bishop Leonard Catholic and Philip Murray Elementary schools have chosen to focus their Save Our History project to raise awareness about East Carson Street, a historic main street on Pittsburgh's South Side; and
 
WHEREAS, our community landmarks, sites and artifacts need our direct involvement to preserve them for future generations.
