WHEREAS, Pittsburgh has 88 unique neighborhoods with tremendous cultural assets, but these communities are being overrun with litter on the streets and sidewalks; and

WHEREAS, Shadyside resident Boris Weinstein recognized the growing litter problem in his neighborhood and took action as a dedicated member of our community, spending  up to two hours a day cleaning up litter throughout Shadyside; and

WHEREAS, he has split Shadyside into 17 zones that require only 3 volunteers per zone, or 51 total volunteers to clean-up all of Shadyside, and he just recently signed-on 25 more volunteers for the neighborhood; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Weinstein's commitment to cleaning up the community is contagious and he has already recruited over 20 volunteers to work on a similar neighborhood campaign to clean up Squirrel Hill.
