Title: NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh commends and honors Kenneth Barry and Danny Simcox for their courage and for caring about the community in which they live by saving the Resurrection Church and do hereby declare today, Tuesday, July 6th, 2004 Kenneth Barry and Daniel Simcox Day in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, during a recent storm in Pittsburgh, lightening struck the roof of the Resurrection Church in Brookline, causing the roof of the church to catch on fire.
 
WHEREAS, Kenneth Barry and Danny Simcox were playing in the yard bordering the church property, saw the fire and immediately dialed 911 alerting the fire department.
 
WHEREAS, Father Frank Mitolo, Pastor at the Resurrection Church credits Ken and Danny for "saving the building" through their quick thinking and concern for the church.  
 
WHEREAS, Ken Barry and Danny Simcox 14 and 13 years old respectively and both students at the South Hills Middle School exhibited bravery and concern for their community by saving the church from extensive damage.
