WHEREAS, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh (CLP) has long served as one of the City's most treasured civic institutions, providing generations of residents with access to knowledge, lifelong learning and community connection; and,
WHEREAS, dedicated employees are the foundation of the Library's enduring impact throughout the City of Pittsburgh; and,
WHEREAS, Mary Lisa McVay, known familiarly to her colleagues as Lisa, began her career with CLP on December 12, 1979, dedicating more than 46 years of service to the organization and bringing a lifelong love of libraries to her work; and,
WHEREAS, Lisa's connection to libraries began long before her career at CLP, spending Saturday mornings exploring the collections at CLP - Main alongside her father and developing a passion for engineering, architecture, music, and especially art; and,
WHEREAS, throughout her career as a Graphic Designer in the Communications & Creative Services Department, Lisa demonstrated thoughtful professionalism, careful stewardship and a deep commitment to the Library's mission, helping staff, trustees, and patrons access the information and resources that connect communities to learning, joy, and discovery; and,
WHEREAS, through her preparation of quarterly Board statistical reports, production of Library program guides, annual reports and newsletters, as well as decades of other behind-the-scenes activities, Lisa helped document, communicate, and preserve the ongoing story of Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh; and,
WHEREAS, Lisa's institutional knowledge, attention to detail, and steadfast commitment to public service strengthened CLP through decades of growth and change.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and celebrate Lisa McVay for her decades of dedicated service to Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh and congratulate her upon the occasion of her retirement; and,
