Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend the Pennsylvania Baptist State Convention for their efforts to enhance the moral quality of life for others; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, does hereby proclaim October 10th through the 14th, 2011, as “Pennsylvania Baptist State Convention” week in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the Pennsylvania Baptist State Convention's mission is to "fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ through preaching, teaching, and healing"; and
 
WHEREAS, the 120th Pennsylvania Baptist State Convention will be held Monday, October 10th thru Friday, October 14th, 2011, at the Ebenezer Baptist Church located on Wylie Avenue. The theme of the annual session is "Authenticating Our Purpose, and Realizing Our Promise" Isaiah 61/Luke 4:17-21; and
 
WHEREAS, keynote speakers will include Dr. Cleophus LaRue, a distinguished Professor of Homiletics at Princeton University, Dr. J. Wendell Mapson of the Monumental Baptist Church, and past president of the NBC,USA Inc, and PBSC, Dr. William J. Shaw; and
 
WHEREAS, it is the hope of the convention that all members will participate in record numbers and actualize their mission of being a service convention.
