WHEREAS, Wm. David Allen Jr., a member of Boys Scouts of America Troop 6, the Screamin' Eagles, based in Brookline, has received the Scouts' highest honor of Eagle Scout; and
WHEREAS, David has spent the past ten years active in Scouts at the Resurrection Church in Brookline, earning the Arrow of Light award, the highest achievement in Cub Scouting; and
WHEREAS, having graduated to Boy Scouts, David held positions ranging from Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, and Troop Guide; he attended National Youth Leadership Training in 2009 and was Den Chief for three summers at Heritage Reservation Scout camp; and
WHEREAS, to achieve his Eagle Scout recognition, David chose a project close to home-his parish of Resurrection Church, where he planned a renovation of the Church's basement community space, holding a carwash to raise funds and soliciting donations and manpower to complete the project, which took 435 hours overall; and
WHEREAS, David, a senior at Winchester Thurston and varsity soccer captain, is now on the path toward selecting a school for his college education.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognizes Wm. David Allen Jr. Boy Scout Troop 6 for his years of service and congratulates him on achieving Eagle Scout.
THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, March 27, 2012 to be Wm. David Allen Jr. Day in the City of Pittsburgh.
