WHEREAS, Afterschool Buddy, Inc. is a Western Pennsylvania-based, multimedia production company that produces educational and entertainment programming for children and has a mission of "Educate. Entertain. Explore. Excite!;" and
WHEREAS, all television and internet programming for Afterschool Buddy, Inc. features core topics of multi-cultural diversity, health & wellness, environmental awareness, and animal care & welfare; and
WHEREAS, after nearly three decades in journalism, President & CEO Susan Brozek Scott, launched Afterschool Buddy, Inc. in December of 2008; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Brozek Scott also created The Rainbow Kids®, a performance troupe of multi-cultural children, ages 7 to 13, whose members represent 20 public, private, parochial and cyber schools in Western PA; and
WHEREAS, since November of 2009, performances by the The Rainbow Kids® have been seen by over 1-million people via TV, stage and other regional events; and
WHEREAS, Afterschool Buddy, Inc. and the children it works with have raised $1,000 to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western PA.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend Afterschool Buddy, Inc. for its efforts to provide high quality, educational programming to children, especially in the afterschool hours; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares July 25, 2010, "Afterschool Buddy® Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
