Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOVLED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby welcome the Very Reverend Father Miron Kerul'-Kmec and Mr. Lubomir Kolesar of Presov, Slovak Republic.

WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh and Presov, Slovak Republic, entered into a Sister City Agreement the 16th day of July, 2002; and

WHEREAS, Presov, Slovak Republic and Pittsburgh, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, U.S.A., have cultivated many relationships that keep progressing since the beginning of the Sister City Agreement by bringing many distinguished individuals from Presov and the region around Presov to Pittsburgh; and

WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh welcomes the Very Reverend Father Miron Kerul'-Kmec of the Byzantine Greek Catholic faith, who was ordained in Presov, Slovakia in 1990, one year after the fall of communism. Father Miron is married to Marcelka and they have one son, Miron (Jr.), 14 years old. Father Miron was instrumental with assisting in the translation and communication in the Sister City Agreement in November 2001. Currently he serves as a member of the Mass Media Commission of his diocese with a special focus on Internet and Web Page pastoral ministry; and

WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh welcomes Mr. Lubomir Kolesar of the Slovak Republic who is the founder, owner and general director of Polnonakup Saris Investment Group based in Presov, Slovakia. He is married to Maria and they have two children, daughter Terezia (14) and son Martin (18). Mr. Kolesar is interested in further expanding the business dealings of his investment group in the City of Pittsburgh and the United States of America; and

WHEREAS, The City of Presov, Slovak Republic, and The City of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, U.S.A., continues to confirm the following issues as their common goals:
Promote friendship between the citizens of both cities;

Further the relationship between the nations of the United States of America and the Slovak Republic;
Contribute to the peace and prosperity of the world;

Foster mutual understanding and trust through education, culture, religion, medicine, industry, sports and any other kind of activity;
