Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh congratulates the Jewish Community Center on their 111 years of continuous service to the community; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares, Wednesday, September 13, 2006 "Jewish Community Center Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

Body
WHEREAS, the Jewish Community Center (JCC) of Pittsburgh provides opportunities for the body, mind, and spirit to over 14,000 members; and
 
WHEREAS, formed locally in 1895, the Pittsburgh JCC welcomes over 1,000 visitors to their facilities everyday; and
 
WHEREAS, in addition to world-class athletic facilities, summer camps, theatrical performances, and speaker series', the JCC has also spent this year focused on the Jewish community's connection with the people of Israel; and
 
WHEREAS, the JCC will host its annual meeting on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at 7:00 in Levinson Hall; and
 
WHEREAS, the annual meeting will honor all past chairs of the United Jewish Federation's Partnership 2000, a program created to build lasting connections between people linked by common history and interests; and
 
WHEREAS, the Partnership 2000 program was the launching point for the connection between Pittsburgh and its sister city of Karmiel and the Region of Misgav and has included the development of relationships between professionals in the areas of social affairs, youth and teen growth, and economic development.
