WHEREAS, Elinor Jones was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on December 17th 1916; and
WHEREAS, she was married to the late William J. Mann Sr. for over forty years and to this union four children were born, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and seven great, great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Elinor Mann graduated from Westinghouse High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS, Elinor Mann has been a friend and mentor to many in the Homewood Brushton community. Her caring nature is exemplified through the nearly eighty foster children she took into her home and the personal care home she operated for over thirty years; and
WHEREAS, Elinor Mann was active in Brushton United Methodist Church for over fifty years; and
WHEREAS, Elinor Mann was the former president of Pennsylvania State Federation of Negro Women's Clubs and the Music and Arts Club of Pittsburgh, former Secretary of the Central Jurisdiction for the Methodist Church, and former Director of Education at the United Methodist Church.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and congratulates Mrs. Elinor Mann on her many acts of generosity and wish her many blessings on her ninetieth birthday.
