WHEREAS, Mifflin Elementary School was built in 1932 in the 31st Ward of the City of Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS, In 1956 the first of two additions was added onto Mifflin Elementary School; and,
WHEREAS, Mifflin Elementary School has an enrollment of 351 students ranging from grades K thru 8; and,
WHEREAS, Mifflin Elementary has many services such as OASIS Intergenerational Tutoring Program, the Youth Crime Watch Program, overnight camping experiences and Intramural sports for boys and girls available for students and the community; and,
WHEREAS, Mifflin Elementary School has a very positive learning environment dedicated staff a full implementation of Early Literacy Plan and an active Parent Volunteer and PTO program; and
WHEREAS, on April 16, 2005 there will be a dedication ceremony at Mifflin Elementary School for the newest building addition that will house the new gymnasium, cafeteria art areas and library.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Mifflin Elementary School on the completion and dedication of the newest addition to the school; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Wednesday April 20, 2005 as "Mifflin Elementary School Day" here in the City of Pittsburgh.
