Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh commends and thanks Tony Ceoffe on his outstanding citizenship, his service to his country, community and family and congratulates him on his upcoming retirement November 14, 2003.

                     WHEREAS,  Born in the Strip District, January 19, 1937, Tony Ceoffe is a 2nd generation Italian-American whose family originated in Avellino, Italy; and

 

                     WHEREAS, Mr. Ceoffe, a lifelong City of Pittsburgh resident, currently resides in Lawrenceville with his wife of 43 years, Mary Ann.  Together they have 4 children and 9 grandchildren; and

 

                     WHEREAS, Mr. Ceoffe was employed with Arkansas Freight Systems for 30 years, where he was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 249, and has received numerous safe driving awards; and

 

                     WHEREAS, Mr. Ceoffe  was a member of the 7th Infintry Division,Engineers and Demolition from 1958-1960, and received and Honorable Discharge with the Rank of Specialist E-5

 

                     WHEREAS, Mr. Ceoffe has served as custodian of the Doughboy Square Statue, and as a member of St. Stanislaus Church in the Strip District.

 

                     NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh commends and thanks Tony Ceoffe on his outstanding citizenship, his service to his country, community and family and congratulates him on his upcoming retirement November 14, 2003.
