Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate the Women of Pittsburgh 2000 and the Coalition of Christian Outreach for their efforts to being people together, to recognize diversity and to celebrate Pittsburgh; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, October 11, 2008, to be ”WALK FOR RACIAL HARMONY DAY” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Women of Pittsburgh 2000 is a non-profit organization of committed Christian women dedicated to breaking down racial barriers between women of Greater Pittsburgh area churches to encourage change consistent with Christian values; and,                
 
WHEREAS, the Coalition of Christian Outreach (CCO) is a non-profit campus ministry that partners with churches, colleges and other organizations to develop men and women who live out their Christian faith in every area of their lives and to transform college students to transform the world ; and,
WHEREAS, on October 11, 2008, the Women of Pittsburgh 2000 and the CCO will join together to celebrate diversity, culture and physical fitness at the 4th Annual Walk for Racial Harmony; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Women of Pittsburgh 2000 will use the proceeds of the Walk to establish and sustain interracial sister groups which engage in the difficult but very rewarding work of racial reconciliation, and the CCO will use the proceeds for their Minority Ministry Fund which provides targeted support to mentor minority college students; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Walk for Racial Harmony will take place at the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium and follow a one mile fun walk with activities planned through the morning for those who do not walk.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate the Women of Pittsburgh 2000 and the Coalition of Christian Outreach for their efforts to being people together, to recognize diversity and to celebrate Pittsburgh; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, October 11, 2008, to be "WALK FOR RACIAL HARMONY DAY"  in the City of Pittsburgh.
