WHEREAS, Kedrique Mitchell of Boy Scout Troop 66, earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Scouting, on February 2, 2019;
WHEREAS, as a member of Boy Scout Troop 66, Kedrique has served as Boy Scout Chaplin and Senior Patrol Leader; and,
WHEREAS, as Eagle Scout Project Manager, Kedrique organized a group to refurbish the Salvation Army West Side Corps' gym, which consisted of scraping, repairing and painting the gym walls and stripping, cleaning, and refinishing the gym floor; and,
WHEREAS, during his tenure in Troop 66, Mr. Mitchell learned values and skills that he continues to use within his community such as volunteering at an Assistant Living Home caroling for special needs residence, and volunteering at the Salvation Army Westside for their Treasure for Children’s Program, Emergency Food Pantry and Earth Day Event just to name a few; and,
WHEREAS, in addition, Kedrique is actively involved in various community groups and clubs such as the Investing Now Program, the Salvation Army Youth Council and the Gateway Medical Society Journey to Medicine Program, where he has organized an annual Health Symposium; and,
WHEREAS, Kedrique is a 2019 graduate of City High Charter School and is an active member of New Life Fellowship Church Youth Group. The attributes he learned as a scout helped shape and mold him to be the person he is today; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend Kedrique on his attainment of the rank of Eagle Scout; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, May 18, 2019 to be “Kedrique Mitchell Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
