WHEREAS, condolences and honor are extended to Mrs. Michele Johnson-Humphries, who was born to her mother Fannie M. Johnson and father Ralph C. Johnson on November 11, 1966 and made her transition from life on January 24, 2018; and,
WHEREAS, siblings of Mrs. Humphries include a surviving twin brother, Michael Johnson, and three brothers who preceded her in death - Julius Hicks, Roy G. Robinson, and Paul Douglas Johnson; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Humphries was married to Mr. Roger Humphries for 18 years, having known each other since small children who grew up in the same church, Metropolitan Baptist Church. Together they had two children, Jaz Humphries who is currently 15 years of age and Roger Humphries, III “Tre” now at age 12; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Humphries graduated from David B. Oliver Higher School in 1984, received a B.S. in Business Management from Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh PA in 1995, as well as a Master of Business Administration from Point Park University of Pittsburgh in 2001; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Humphries worked for the Federated Investors of Pittsburgh from 1995 - 1997 and Dreyfus Investment Services Corp. of Pittsburgh from 2000 - 2002; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Humphries left Pittsburgh for St. Louis on January 2011, at which time she proudly became a devoted homemaker; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Humphries also maintained an active role as a parent and advisor at City Garden Montessori and Hawthorne Leadership School for Girls in St. Louis, MO, a respected friend and confidante to a large body of friends in Pittsburgh and in St. Louis; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Humphries will be laid to rest at Metropolitan Baptist Church in the North Side of Pittsburgh, PA; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare February 3rd, 2018 to be “Michele Humphries Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
