WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Urban Magnet Project (PUMP) was founded in September 1995 to advance issues affecting young and young-thinking people in the City; and
WHEREAS, PUMP strives to engage the young professional in issues involving attraction and retention of youth in Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS, PUMP now has over 2,100 members; and
WHEREAS, PUMP has dedicated itself in particular to affecting positive change in politics and transportation; and
WHEREAS, for the eighth year, PUMP and WQED Multimedia will honor the following forty people under the age of forty who are making this region a better place to live:

WHEREAS, from 6:00- 10:00 p.m. on November 10, 2006, forty of Pittsburgh's greatest young leaders will be honored at Piatt Place, Downtown.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby commends and thanks PUMP and congratulates the recipients of the 40 under 40 awards; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares November 10, 2006 "40 Under 40 Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
