WHEREAS, approximately 3 million Americans of Lebanese descent live in the United States today, representing five generations whose migration began in the 19th century. The first major wave of Lebanese immigrants to the Pittsburgh area arrived between 1870 and 1924, with most coming from what was then known as the Syrian Province; and,
WHEREAS, Our Lady of Victory Maronite Church, founded in 1902, has served the Lebanese-American community of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania for over a century. It is one of only three Maronite Catholic churches in the region and the only one located in Allegheny County; and,
WHEREAS, located at 1000 Tropical Avenue, Our Lady of Victory Maronite Catholic Church, will be hosting its annual Pittsburgh Lebanese Festival from Friday September 5 through Sunday, September 7; and,
WHEREAS, the festival promises a joyful celebration where family and friends come together to enjoy delicious food, lively music, and traditional dancing. With the support of over 100 dedicated volunteers, the flavors of Lebanon are brought to Pittsburgh, fostering a warm and welcoming sense of community for everyone who attends; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Our Lady of Victory Maronite Church for their service to the community and their faithfulness to their heritage; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare September 5-7, 2025, to be "Lebanese-American Days" in the City of Pittsburgh.
