Title: BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby convey its best wishes to Shelly Goldstein, President of the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame of Western Pennsylvania, and all members of the Hall of Fame, and declares Sunday, November 23, 2003, to be "Jewish Sports Hall of Fame of Western Pennsylvania Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

                     WHEREAS, the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame of Western Pennsylvania was established to honor and recognize Western Pennsylvania's outstanding Jewish athletes and notable members of the sports world who have distinguished themselves through their significant contributions to the community both on and off the field; and

 

WHEREAS, all proceeds from banquets, advertising books and all other fundraisers sponsored by the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame are used to fund Jewish youth sports programming in Pittsburgh; and

 

                     WHEREAS, on Sunday, November 23, 2003, the following individuals will be inducted into the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame and will be recognized for their contribution to sports and their leadership in the community:

 

Inductees:

Harold Bigler

Paul Bloom

Murray Chass

Teddy Chernoff

Richard Fox

Harry Landau

Saul Levine

 

Ziggy Kahn Award

Benita "Bunny" Morris

                                          NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate the 2003 Jewish Sports Hall of Fame inductees and joins with the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in recognizing the inductees for their efforts to make Pittsburgh a better place in which to live and play; and

 

                     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby convey its best wishes to Shelly Goldstein, President of the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame of Western Pennsylvania, and all members of the Hall of Fame, and declares Sunday, November 23, 2003, to be "Jewish Sports Hall of Fame of Western Pennsylvania Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
