Title: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognizes and commends the Stop The Violence Movement and the civic organizations and associations in their efforts to improve the quality of life for their constituents. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, declares Saturday, January 14, 2006 "Stop the Violence Movement Day" in the City of Pittsburgh

Whereas on Saturday January 14, 2006, the Stop the Violence Movement in associated with WAMO 106.7 FM and Grove Productions will host the first Annual Hip Hop - R&B Holiday Bling / Stop the Violence Concert at the Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland; and
 
Whereas, the Hip Hop - R&B Holiday Bling / Stop The Violence Concert is a cultural event for youths in the age range of 14 thru 23 who are so often disenfranchised from having quality recreational events to attend in a safe and positive environment; and
 
Whereas, the Stop The Violence Movement is a group of community organizations and activists that will have informational booths set up at the concert to provide and disseminate information to the youth on the various services that are available which deal with societal issues that feed into the violence that is so prevalent in our community today; and
 
Whereas, action is being taken to reach the target demographics with the fundamental message, Stop The Violence and provide a collection of organizations and services under one roof that can help youth make more positive choices.
