Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Reverend Kelvin A. Brooks for listening to the call of God on his life and being committed to serving the residents of the City of Pittsburgh; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Sunday, June 24, 2012, to be “Rev. Kelvin A. Brooks Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Pastor Kelvin A. Brooks attended Westminster College, Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary where he graduated the Anchor Theological Seminary with a Bachelor of Theology Degree and graduated the New World Bible Institute with an honorary Doctorate Degree of Salinity; and,
 
WHEREAS, After serving in various churches from 1973-1982, Rev. Brooks was called upon by the White Lily Baptist Church of Pittsburgh to shepherd them and since becoming the Pastor of White Lily Baptist Church of Pittsburgh, Rev. Brooks has licensed 3 preachers and ordained 11 deacons; and,
 
WHEREAS, over the years Pastor Brooks established many ministries to help his congregation grow spiritually, such as Prayer Partners, Youth Teen Ministry, Christian Living Class, and singles ministry just to name a few; and,  
 
WHEREAS, in 2012, Pastor Brooks shared his idea and design for a comprehensive center with Councilwoman Smith and has agreed to work with the Council Office and other City Departments to build the center on the property of White Lily Baptist Church which will serve youth, adults and senior residents of District 2; and,
 
WHEREAS, Sunday, June 24, 2012 will mark the 30th Anniversary of Pastor Rev. Kelvin A. Brooks to White Lily Baptist Church; and,
