Title
Resolution providing for the letting of contracts and the use of existing contracts for the purchase of materials, general supplies and equipment by various Departments of the City of Pittsburgh for and during the calendar year 2006, and providing for the payments of the costs thereof.
 
Body
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:
 
Section 1.      The Director of the Department of General Services of the City of Pittsburgh be and is hereby authorized to advertise for proposals, award and enter into contracts or exercise against existing contracts for furnishing materials, general supplies and equipment whose estimated cost will be in excess of $10,000.00, and to purchase without advertisement, such materials, general supplies and equipment whose estimated cost will be less than $10,000.00, as required by various Departments of the City of Pittsburgh.  All contracts entered into pursuant hereto shall provide that the City of Pittsburgh shall have the right to terminate said contracts as of December 31, 2006, in the event funds are not appropriated for the continuation of said contracts in any succeeding calendar year, or upon consolidation of said contracts with the County of Allegheny, whichever occurs first.
 
Section 2.      The cost of such materials, supplies and equipment shall be chargeable to and payable from the appropriations made to the Department of General Services, or to the various Departments, for the purchase of such materials, supplies and equipment as may be required and authorized by the respective appropriation ordinances.
