WHEREAS, John Dolan is a City of Pittsburgh resident and a 2025 graduate of Seton-LaSalle High School in Mt. Lebanon, PA. John will attend Penn State University to study finance at their main campus in the fall, and;
WHEREAS, For John’s Eagle Scout project, he led the restoration and improvement of Southside Cemetery’s chapel and office building located in the heart of Carrick, and;
WHEREAS, the building had fallen into deep neglect over the last several decades, causing the exterior paint to crumble, decay, and project a negative outlook on the cemetery itself. John organized and managed a team of scouts and adult volunteers to paint and clean the exterior and interior of the building, and;
WHEREAS, John’s goal was to ensure that it could once again serve as a dignified and functional area for memorial services and community gatherings. Working with local contractors, superintendents, and general manager Brian Damico, he was able to achieve that goal this past October, and;
WHEREAS, John was on the Seton LaSalle golf team where he was the varsity captain. He is also a member of the National Honor Society and was their senior treasurer. He was a member of Student Council and the senior class president. He also participated in mock trial activities, and;
WHEREAS, John is a great young man and did a wonderful project within the City of Pittsburgh, family and friends are excited to see where his next chapter takes him, and;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend John on his Eagle Scout project, and;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, June 10, 2025 to be “John P. Dolan” in the City of Pittsburgh.
