WHEREAS, the neighborhood of Bloomfield will celebrate the tenth anniversary of their popular Little Italy Days festival from September 23rd to 25th, 2011; and
WHEREAS, organized by the Bloomfield Development Corporation, the family-friendly weekend-long event attracts 20,000 people annually, and is a tribute to the rich Italian-American history and heritage of Bloomfield, Pittsburgh's Little Italy; and
WHEREAS, the Little Italy Days festival offers free admission and free parking all weekend and features a parade on Sunday morning, a bocce tournament, an Italian mass, children's activities, contests, dancing every night, and Bloomfield's signature Italian food; and
WHEREAS, Bloomfield's Little Italy Days received first place in the 2008 statewide "Townie Awards" for best Special Event, and was also recognized as the "Best Special Event" by Mainstreets Pittsburgh in 2004.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize Bloomfield's Little Italy Days 10th anniversary and applauds the commitment of the Bloomfield community to local engagement and celebration of ethnic and cultural history; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare the week of September 19th to 25th, 2011 "Little Italy Days Week" in the City of Pittsburgh.
