Title

Resolution authorizing the Mayor and the Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation to enter into a license agreement with the commonwealth of Pennsylvnia, Department of Environmental Protection, to construct a canoe/kayak launch along the left bank of the Monogahela River in Southside Riverfront Park.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Friends of the Riverfront, a community advocacy group organized as a 501(c)(3) corporation, has offered to build and maintain a canoe/kayak launch to be owned by the City and located along the left bank of the Monongahela River at the City's Southside Riverfront Park; and

 

WHEREAS, the launch is slated for construction on riparian land owned by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; and

 

WHEREAS, the City now seeks to enter into a License Agreement with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, through the Department of Environmental Protection, to permit this use of the riparian land;

 

Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:

 

Section 1.  The Mayor and the Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation are hereby authorized to enter into a License Agreement with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, through the Department of Environmental Protection, to construct a canoe/kayak launch along the left bank of the Monongahela River in Southside Riverfront Park. The License Agreement shall be in a form approved by the City Solicitor.
