WHEREAS, the JCC Maccabi Games, founded in 1982, are an international Olympic-style athletic competition for Jewish teens that promote the values of community, inclusion, and sportsmanship; and,
WHEREAS, since their founding, the Games have brought together thousands of young athletes from around the world, building bridges across cultures while strengthening Jewish identity and global Jewish community; and,
WHEREAS, the JCC Maccabi Games are now the largest Jewish youth event in the world, providing a platform for athletic excellence, cultural exchange, and personal growth; and,
WHEREAS, The City of Pittsburgh is honored to serve as a host community for the 2025 JCC Maccabi Games, welcoming athletes, coaches, families, and supporters from across the country and around the world; and,
WHEREAS, The University of Pittsburgh is generously providing their facilities, staff, and support, serving as a key partner in creating a world-class experience for athletes and visitors alike; and,
WHEREAS, this event represents not only a celebration of athletic excellence, but also an opportunity to engage in cultural exchange, understanding, and demonstrate that Pittsburgh welcomes everyone ; and,
WHEREAS, we commend the hard work and dedication of all athletes, families, coaches, volunteers, and organizations who have made the 2025 JCC Maccabi Games possible and extend our best wishes for a successful and memorable Games;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and celebrate the 2025 JCC Maccabi Games and commends all those involved in bringing this meaningful and international event to our city; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare July 29, 2025, to be “JCC MACCABI GAMES DAY” in the City of Pittsburgh.
