WHEREAS, Allegheny-Fayette County Labor Council is a local branch of the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO), which represents the collective interests of its affiliated unions and the working people; and,

WHEREAS, the Labor Council recognizes two individuals who have fought hard to improve the standard of living for the working class people at their annual Honorees Banquet; and,
WHEREAS, this year’s Honorees are Pam Snyder, State Representative of District 50, “Labor’s Woman of the Year’ and Congressman Mike Doyle of PA’s 18th Congressional District, “Labor’s Man of the Year”, both of whom fought hard for Working Families; and,
WHEREAS, State Representative Snyder fought hard to bring broadband internet to rural areas of her district, which included all of Greene County and portions of Fayette and Washington Counties, by pushing the creation of the Pennsylvania Broadband Deployment Authority. The new authority will help underserved communities across the state; and,
WHEREAS, Congressman Doyle has included creating jobs and revitalizing communities through economic development and high-tech initiatives as part of his top priorities and recently voted in favor of the Inflation Reduction Act, which will help seniors and working families by lowering health and energy costs; and,
WHEREAS, in addition, the Labor Council will give a special tribute to their Labor Chaplain, the late Father Jack O’Malley; and,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the Allegheny-Fayette County Labor Council and congratulates State Representative Pam Snyder and Congressman Mike Doyle for their accomplishments for Working Families; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Friday, October 28, 2022 to be “Allegheny-Fayette CLC Honorees Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
