WHEREAS, the Amen Corner has been a fixture in Pittsburgh and Allegheny County for over 136 years, providing networking resources and the opportunity to confer on politics, economy, taxes, local development and business.
WHEREAS, the Amen Corner boasts over 400 members in the Western Pennsylvania region and recognizes exemplary volunteers and leadership every year at its annual Holiday Reception and Annual Meeting.
WHEREAS, the Amen Corner will hold its Holiday Reception and Annual Meeting on November 29, 2006, at the Duquesne Club, when it will honor Mr. Ralph Papa, its outgoing President Don Ickert and a local college student.
WHEREAS, Don Ickert has served as the Amen Corner President for the 2006 term, advancing the organization in its mission to an elevated level of respect and productivity. Don Ickert is a partner in the certified public accounting firm of Bates, Barksdale, Ickert and Company and is a certified financial planner, an accredited Senor Appraiser-Business Valuation, an accredited Business Valuator and a Certified Forensic Accountant as well as a CPA. Don has been active in professional organizations as well as the Masons, Shriners and Circus Saints and Sinners. The Amen Corner is privileged to have had his leadership, energy and commitment as he steps down from the presidency.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby recognizes Dan Ickert for his leadership of the Amen Corner.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Wednesday, November 29, 2006, as Don Ickert Day in the City of Pittsburgh.
