Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate Gabe Kish, Sr. upon his retirement and commend him for his numerous altruistic contributions to his community and abroad; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Friday, February 28, 2020 to be "Gabe Kish, Sr. Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, after 25 years as an Electrician with ALCOSAN, Gabe Kish, Sr. is retiring on his birthday, Friday, February 28, 2020; and,

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Kish is well known for his volunteerism in his community.  Gabe has volunteered helping youth with the Elliott West  End Athletic Association and the Open Door youth outreach, faithfully attending the after school program where he has been a blessing to many at-risk young people; and,

 

WHEREAS, in addition to his mission help in Pittsburgh with organizations such as The Pittsburgh Project, Gabe has lead an annual trip to the Rio Grande Valley in Texas where he has helped dozens of Pittsburghers contribute to the welfare of victims of natural disasters, poverty and the immigration crisis; and,

 

WHEREAS, for every trip Mr. Kish has taken, including a visit to Malawi Africa, there were probably at least 10 people in his community who he has selflessly contributed his skills, expertise and love to help; and,

 

WHEREAS, once a month, Gabe and a team of volunteers prepares and serves meal to those in need as part of a ministry called The Table, which operates out of the Hot Metal Bridge Faith Community and he was instrumental in conceptualizing a similar program offered through the West End Christian Ministries; and,

 

WHEREAS, Gabe will celebrate his retirement with his wife Michele who helps Gabe coordinate quarterly blood drives at the Crafton Heights United Presbyterian Church; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate Gabe Kish, Sr. upon his retirement and commend him for his numerous altruistic contributions to his community and abroad; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Friday, February 28, 2020 to be “Gabe Kish, Sr. Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
