WHEREAS, since 1975, the City Theatre's mission has been to provide an artistic home for the development and production of contemporary plays of substance and ideas that engage and challenge a diverse audience; and,
WHEREAS, City Theatre has a national presence, as they commission and produce the work of playwrights all over the country, and have been recognized by the New York Times as "Pittsburgh's most innovative theatre company"; and,
WHEREAS, City Theatre gives back to the community through programs such as the Young Playwrights Contest and Festival that allows Pittsburgh's youth to see their own creative writing come to life; and,
WHEREAS, City Theatre is celebrating its 40th anniversary season at Heinz Field on May 18th, 2015, where the Company will acknowledge all of its many accomplishments during the last four decades.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the City Theatre Company for its dedication to providing original productions and educational outreach programs for the region; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare May 18th, 2015, "City Theatre Company Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
