WHEREAS, Chaney Lewis graduated from Schenley High School and was a member of the Schenley Spartans wrestling team from 1997-2000 and has been a member of the Pittsburgh Wrestling Club since 1996; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Lewis has a career record of 57 wins and 18 losses, was a two time District 8 Champion and Qualifier and was a member of the Tri-C College from 2000 through 2001 achieving a record of 10 and 10; he loves the sport so much that he has traveled to tournaments as far away as Nebraska and,
WHEREAS, in order to give back to his fellow novice wrestlers, he has been helping Pittsburgh City League Wrestling since the year 2002, working with Pittsburgh Schenley, Perry, Langley, Allderdice and Peabody and for the last 5 years has worked with Pittsburgh Brashear; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Lewis was the Head Coach for Prospect Middle School from 2003 until its close in 2006 and was swiftly recruited as the Head Coach for South Brook Middle School where he continues to influence the lives of today's youth; and,
WHEREAS, Chaney believes in the discipline of the sport and how it teaches our youth both individual and team sportsmanship; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and honor Mr. Chaney Lewis for his dedication not only to the sport, but to Pittsburgh Public School Wrestlers who he has assisted in their personal growth both on and off the mat and we recognize his personal sacrifices and willingness to give back to our youth in a tremendous way; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, May 14, 2011, to be "Chaney Lewis Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
