Title: WHEREAS, Michael Metting began his scouting career as a Tiger Scout in the first grade before earning the Cub Scout's highest honor, the Arrow of Light; and,

WHEREAS, Michael Metting began his scouting career as a Tiger Scout in the first grade before earning the Cub Scout’s highest honor, the Arrow of Light; and,

WHEREAS, Michael has held several leadership positions in his Scout Troop including Quartermaster, Senior Patrol Leader, and Order of the Arrow Election Team Member while also earning 50 merit badges, 3 conservation awards, the EQT STEM award, and many others; and,

 

WHEREAS, Michael has a long history of community service including decorating Brookline Boulevard with the American Flag every National Holiday, decorating the graves of veterans on Memorial Day, volunteering at the Community Food Bank, and preparing meals for the Wednesday Night Table; and,

 

WHEREAS, Michael has many academic achievements including receiving high honors at Brashear High School, is a candidate for the National Honor Society, and the Executive Scholar of the Pittsburgh Promise;  and,

 

WHEREAS, Michael’s love of cooking for and feeding others inspired his Eagle Scout project where he created 50 meal boxes of homemade food for clients of the food pantry where he volunteers that included meatloaf, a dozen meatballs, a dozen pierogis, and a dessert of pound cake; and,

 

WHEREAS, upon graduation he intends to continue volunteering at the food pantry and pursing his love of cooking while studying to become an electrician; and,

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Michael Metting; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Sunday, May 22nd, 2022, to be “Michael Metting Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
