Title
Resolution authorizing the Mayor and the Director of the Department of Finance to enter into an agreement or agreements with the Pittsburgh School District amending and/or supplementing the Cooperation Agreement dated September, 1974, for the purpose of collecting delinquent taxes in accordance with the procedures authorized by Act No. 20 of 2003.

Body

Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:

Section 1.  The Mayor and the Director of the Department of Finance, on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh, are hereby authorized to enter into an agreement or agreements, in form approved by the City Solicitor, with the School District of Pittsburgh, amending and/or supplementing the Cooperation Agreement entered into between the City and the School District dated September, 1974, as authorized by City Ordinance No. 527, approved November 22, 1974, and amended by City Resolution No. 161, approved March 3, 1992, for the purpose of joining with the School District in its efforts to collect delinquent taxes by making use of the procedures authorized by the Pennsylvania General Assembly in the 2003 amendments to the Municipal Claims and Tax Liens Law, as set forth in the Act of August 14, 2003, P.L. 83, No. 20 (Act No. 20), thereby resulting in a reduction of charges and costs associated with the collection of delinquent City and School District taxes.

The School District will deduct the City portion of any costs associated with the Act No. 20 collection effort, and any future initiatives, from the annual amount paid by the School District to the City for tax collection.
