WHEREAS, Beatrice (Bea) Dianne Hogan was born on May 13, 1949, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, daughter of Helen Ruth Duke Hogan and David Hogan Sr. On Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at the age of sixty-seven, Beatrice passed into the loving arms of her heavenly father, leaving a legacy of love, hard work, education, and community involvement; and,
WHEREAS, Bea was a practicing Paralegal in Downtown Pittsburgh for many years until she moved on to work for the City of Pittsburgh Parks and Recreation, J&L Steel Mill, City of Pittsburgh Controller's Office, and Mark J. Puharic Plumbing and Heating. Bea received her education in the Pittsburgh Public School System before earning her first degree from Point State Park, and later, her second degree from Three Rivers Law School; and,
WHEREAS, Bea had been a resident of Pittsburgh's North Side for a great part of her life, and married Gary Wright; and,
WHEREAS, Bea was an Allegheny County Democratic Committeewoman and Treasurer for over thirty years, and was Commissioner for the City of Pittsburgh Housing Authority from 2008 to 2013, and held the position of Treasurer for The Housing Authority Northview Heights Senior Tenant Council; and,
WHEREAS, Bea was the sister of Karen Moore, Rhonda Grosse (Michael), David Hogan Jr. (Ziphora), Helena Edwards, Louann Louis, Charles Adams Sr., and Donald Edwin Adams; the grandmother of Dionna Westry, Chanel Sheppard, Tyrell Curges, Ashley Wright, and ShaQuayla Willet; the aunt of seven nieces and nephews; and,
WHEREAS, Bea was a warmhearted and fun-loving social butterfly who was well-known for her love of bowling, bingo, lightning, and bid whisk; she was also a number one shuffleboard player whose skills were nearly unmatched. Bea enjoyed attending cabarets and family barbecues, the latter of which she often hosted at her home. Bea had a deep love for people and her community, and was a friend to everyone she met; and,
