Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, does hereby commend and thank, Earl V. Jones, Sr. for all of the volunteer work that he has done over and past two decades. The council also congratulates the twenty students from area schools that are being honored for their essays on how to promote peace. We join in prayers that peace can, indeed, be achieved through brotherhood and understanding among all people.

Whereas, Peace on Earth is celebrating the momentous occasion of its twentieth anniversary; and

 

Whereas, Earl V. Jones, Sr. has made the pursuit of peace his life's work, as a volunteer he has organized many events throughout the city of Pittsburgh and many foreign lands that incorporates children and adults.

 

Whereas, Mr. Jones reaches out to people of all races and religions, and to the young and the elderly; and

 

Whereas, this program is supported by many, including National City Bank, Dr. Raymond B. McClain of the Pittsburgh Public Schools, United Steels Workers, Pittsburgh Building Inspectors, and past president of the NAACP-Pittsburgh Chapter

 

Whereas, many children have participated in a successful essay program in order to promote peace on earth. 

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, does hereby commend and thank, Earl V.
