WHEREAS, the Eagle Scout Award is the highest rank in Scouting of which only 4 percent of youth earn and is based on performances in the areas of responsibility, leadership, service and outdoor skills: and,
WHEREAS, Charlie Speelman, achieved the rank of Eagle Scout on September 25, 2010; and,
WHEREAS, for his final project to obtain Eagle Scout, Charlie removed about 600 ceiling tiles and about 45 light fixtures replacing them with new tiles and fixtures at Ascension Church accumulating approximately 200 service hours; and,
WHEREAS, Charlie was a Cub Scout for 5 years and graduated from the Cub Scouts with the Arrow of Light Award and is currently in Boy Scout Troop 66 of the Greater Pittsburgh Council where he has been for 6 years; and,
WHEREAS, Charlie has held the position of Patrol Leader, received the Order of the Arrow award in 2008 and is currently a Senior Patrol Leader; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and congratulate Eagle Scout Charles Speelman for his outstanding achievement of attaining the rank of Eagle Scout; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, January 25, 2011, to be "Charles Speelman Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
