Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate the Western Pennsylvania Slovak Cultural Association for promoting Slovak culture throughout the Western Pennsylvania region and for holding the Fourth Consular Testimonial Awards Dinner on September 14, 2008; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Sunday, September 14, 2008 to be “WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA CULTURAL ASSOCIATION DAY” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS ,the Western Pennsylvania Slovak Cultural Association was formed as a non-profit organization by Slovak Honorary Consul Joseph Senko in 1997 to bring diverse authentic Slovak cultural programs to Western Pennsylvania for the entire public to enjoy; and,             
 
WHEREAS, the Western Pennsylvania Slovak Cultural Association strives to acquaint the general public with the geography, history and culture of the Slovak Republic; and,
WHEREAS, the Western Pennsylvania Slovak Cultural Association will be holding its Fourth Consular Testimonial Awards Dinner at the Radisson Greentree on September 14, 2008, to honor those who by their distinguished leadership and service have enriched the Slovak culture and heritage in the fields of Religion, Business, Government, Heritage and Lifetime Achievement  ; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Western Pennsylvania Slovak Cultural Association will honor
·      Frederick N. Frank, Director of the Slovak American Enterprise Fund, for Business  
·      Gregory C. Fajt, Governor Rendell's Chief of Staff, for Government  
·      Bishop David A. Zubik, Bishop of Pittsburgh, for Religion
·      Sue and Rudy Ondrejco, W PA Slovak Radio Hour and Pittsburgh Slovakians, for Heritage
·      David G. Blazek, National President of the National Slovak Society for Lifetime Achievement
